First-day-at-work gift, huge hit
Gave it to my sister on her first day. She has had it on her laptop bag for eight months and the scarf fringe is still perfect. The little claw stitches are a detail I did not notice until it arrived.

Barley is the grown-up one. Caramel body, cream muzzle and paw pads, three little claw stitches on each foot, and a sage-green scarf with a proper fringe that we knot strand by strand.
The head is worked slightly oversized against the body — the chibi proportion that makes an amigurumi read as cute rather than as a small ordinary bear. The nose is satin-stitched in dark brown rather than glued on, and the blush is needle-felted in.
Sits at 10 cm and hangs from a brushed steel ring. This is the one that gets bought as a first-day-at-work gift, and it is the one people keep on their bag for years afterwards.

Ainee in Shillong only makes flowers. Tulips, daisies, sunflowers, lavender. She keeps a real bloom on the table beside her and matches the petal curve by eye.

This is the thing that separates a good amigurumi from a mediocre one and they clearly know it. Nose is stitched not glued. Caramel colour is richer in person.
